Match Report: Addiscombe v Berrylands

Saturday 28th September: 4-2 loss

The boot was on the other foot this year with Addiscombe only able to field 10 players, but the result was still the same – an Addiscombe win. Berries had a terrific first half with confident passing and running with and without the ball. We rode our luck a little but contained any attacks from Addiscombe either through good defensive tackles or the occasional save by the keeper. Going forward we looked a real unit spreading the play releasing the ball early to create the space. We deserved to go into the half time break 2-0 up both goals from Grace.

I know I said play fair in the second half but we somewhat gifted the game to Addiscombe. We adjusted to their change in formation but instead of passing to ourselves we gave the ball to them. As Addiscombe levelled at 2-2 tiredness appeared to set into the Berries legs as nothing we tried worked. A few more sniffs at goal for us but Addiscombe felt the tide turn in the favour.

Final Score: 4 – 2 loss
