2017-18 Season: Berrylands 0 – 7 Camberley & Farnborough (2s)

We were due to play table toppers Camberley and Farnborough ….. we only had eight players. Luckily Helen V stepped up, and Beth and Lish were drafted in as new players. However, with no subs available, it was going to be a tiring, tough game and so it proved.

From the starting whistle, Camberley (or Cambo, as one of their supporters loudly shouted from the sideline) controlled the ball, the pitch and the game. They were patient in building up their attacks, starting from serious passing to and fro between the three backs – more usually seen at a higher level or hockey, and a tactic which Berrylands didn’t have the speed to penetrate. Having said that, the score at half-time was a respectable 1-0. Emily, Hannah, Rachel, Beth and T working hard to clear the ball away from the danger zone.

However, the second half, with tired legs, Camberley wore us down and scored quickly and Berrylands were unable to capitalise on any breaks towards their goal.

A fine tea was had by all – including several Camberley supporters
