Match Report: Berrylands v Guildford

Saturday 15th March: 4-1 loss

Great weather, shame about the result!

Another glorious day in Wimbledon for Berries last home league game of the season against Guildford.  Berries were hopeful of keeping their run of good form going.  A positive start with some early pressure from Berries but unable to find a way past the keeper/defenders or goal post.  Guildford were quick into the counter attack and had Berries scampering to clear their lines.  A few vital saves from Linda kept the score at 0-0.  The game was beginning to turn slightly in Guildford’s favour as they look sharper and more hungry for the ball.  Berries were still battling on and creating some wonderful scoring opportunities and some short corners but the ball would not go in the net.  Two quick goals from Guildford put pressure on Berries as the half finished.

Still in the game but needing to score Berries went chasing the game still leaving themselves open for the counter attack.  But a better display on passing and possession saw Berries inching their way back into the game but still looking for that elusive goal.  Guildford were still dangerous and struck again with two further goals before Berries got their first – a great three pass move which saw Grace calmly take the ball towards the keeper and then slip the ball into the corner.  Berries were still looking for more but further shots were just wide of the mark or the final ball was picked off by a Guildford defender.

Final score: 4-1 loss
